CAPO DANA NJB is a local Basketball league for Kindergarten through 8th grade Boys and Girls in the Capistrano area. We have a "first come", "first serve" policy. We will have a waiting list for each division once the teams are full. Our league includes Capistrano Beach, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano and Laguna Niguel (Zip Codes: 92624, 92629, 92675 and 92677).
The season starts on the first weekend of December and runs thru late February for the Divisional Players. All-Stars will be done by the first weekend of April. The Rookies will be done by mid-February. The Rookie and 2nd Grade programs will be on Saturdays, starting December 14th. The Divisional teams will start practicing the first week of November and games will be either Saturday or Sunday depending on gym availability. Girls play inter-league (3rd thru 6th grade), so they will play against other local NJB leagues and travel to their gyms. Please check back for any updates or new announcements.
All requests for refunds must be made to us via email or written mail, before the teams are drafted. There will be a $10 cancellation fee for all registrations which covers processing fees. There will be no refunds after the teams have been drafted. Draft dates will be posted on the website as they become available.
These players follow the rules of the 3rd/4th grade level and play with an 8 foot basket. Games are 5 periods of 6 minutes each. Each player will receive a "Rookie" jersey and a basketball (25.5"). There are no referees and we do not record scores. One coach from each team is allowed on the court during the game to help bring the ball down the court and teach the players the basics of the game. By mid-season, the players will be playing without help from the Coaches. There will be a practice each week before the game during the season. Any additional practice is up to the individual coaches. The season will last for 8 weeks. All games are played on Saturday mornings. We will focus on a new skill each week. When you register, there is an option for a "friend request", so that you may choose to be on the same team with "one" other friend. Look for the "friend" option right under the field for the name of your school. Each player may choose one friend to be on the same team. That friend must also choose your player or the request will not be honored. We are allowing only "ONE" request per player. We make every effort to group the players by school to make it more enjoyable. The cost per player is $175 per player. There is a $10 sibling discount. There are no Early Bird discounts. This division fills up quickly, so register as soon as possible.
The 2nd Graders follow the rules of the 3rd/4th grade level, except that they play with an 8 foot basket for the first half of the season before moving up to a 9 foot basket. Games will be 5 periods of 6 minutes each. There is one official referee per game and we do not record the scores of games.
